PUC Holds Special Hearing on Alternative Energy Resources, Conservation, Efficiency and Demand Side Response

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today is holding a special en banc hearing on alternative energy resources, energy conservation and efficiency, and demand side response tools and programs to assist consumers.   

The five PUC Commissioners will conduct the en banc hearing to solicit comments from several panels of presenters, including public officials; electric and natural gas utilities; electric suppliers; demand side response and energy efficiency experts; consumers and environmental and advocacy groups.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
