HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) today announced that the Commission’s Philadelphia office, located at 801 Market St., Philadelphia, will be closed on Friday, Sept. 25 and Monday, Sept. 28, due to the visit of Pope Francis, but responses to the PUC’s toll-free consumer services hotline will continue uninterrupted during that period.

During the closure of the PUC’s Philadelphia office, all calls from Southeastern Pennsylvania to the Bureau of Consumer Services hotline – 1-800-692-7380 – will be handled by staff from the PUC’s Harrisburg call center. No interruptions are anticipated in responses to incoming consumer calls, though walk-in service will not be available at the Philadelphia location on Friday and Monday.

All other PUC offices throughout Pennsylvania will continue to operate on their regular schedules during this period and the Philadelphia office will resume normal operations on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission balances the needs of consumers and utilities; ensures safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protects the public interest; educates consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; furthers economic development; and fosters new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.
