Competitive Market Oversight

By order adopted on Sept. 11, 2008, the PUC released an Action Plan to implement various measures identified by a report submitted by the SEARCH Working Group (Stakeholders Exploring Avenues for Removing Competition Hurdles). This Working Group was charged with identifying measures that can be taken to promote the development of a competitive market for natural gas supply in the Commonwealth.

After review of the SEARCH Report, the Commission found that it is in the public interest to establish the creation of an Office of Competitive Market Oversight (OCMO) to oversee competition in the retail natural gas supply market.  The OCMO will promote the development of the competitive retail natural gas market. The Office will also facilitate the resolution of disputes between natural distribution companies (NGDCs) and natural gas suppliers (NGSs) and provide a forum for informally addressing obstacles faced by NGSs in participating in the retail market.

Issues that NGSs wish to have considered for mediation by the OCMO should be sent to ra-OCMO@pa.gov.
