PUC Approves Rate Increase for Moving Companies in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties

HARRISBURG The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) yesterday approved rate increases for moving companies in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
Forest Hills Transfer and Storage, Allegheny County, will increases the weekday hourly rate for a three-man crew and vehicle by $9, from $76 to $85. The new rate covers the transportation of household goods from points in Allegheny County to destinations of 40 miles or less. It also covers transportation from points in Westmoreland County to the borough of Saltsburg, Indiana County. The rate was last raised in May 1998.
Richies Transfer, Allegheny County, will increase the weekday hourly rate for a three-man crew and vehicle by $4, from $71 to $75, to cover insurance costs. The new rate covers the transportation of household goods from points in Allegheny County to destination of 40 miles or less. The rate was last raised in December 2000.
James E. Fretz, Westmoreland County, will increase the weekday hourly rate for a three-man crew and vehicle by $8, from $65 to $73, to cover insurance costs. The new hourly rate covers the transportation of household goods from points in and around the city of Monessen to destinations of 40 miles or less. The rate was last raised in November 1997.
